Good Governance

Great Hall of the People, BeijingChairman Xi Jinping believes in clean government and righteous cadres and there has been an unprecedented crackdown on corruption at all levels of government with 300,000 “tigers and flies” punished in 2015. The crackdown began with a belt-tightening exercise aimed at cutting down on wasteful expenditure by officials on banqueting and luxury gifts. Chairman Xi’s anti-graft campaign enjoys strong support from China’s general public (laobaixing), who harbor deep resentment against corrupt officials with extravagant lifestyles.
